What makes the novel so powerful is Carrie herself. She is rough, blunt, and fueled by a relentless will to win—yet that ferocity becomes the very thing that makes her compelling. Reid crafts a character whose ego and ambition are undeniable but also deeply human, revealing the vulnerability beneath the armor as Carrie’s life shifts dramatically over the course of a single year. I didn’t think Reid could top The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but with Carrie Soto she delivers something equally masterful: a story about discipline, legacy, and the courage it takes to redefine yourself when the world thinks your time has passed.
